There’s nothing like planning a wedding when you live across the country. Literally. Dessi & Carter live in sunny California. They both attended William & Mary (where Dessi played Division 1 volleyball!) and decided to return here to tie the knot on a friend’s riverfront property in Gloucester. As luck would have it, they had a weekend in Virginia while attending a friend’s wedding, and so we got their Colonial Williamsburg engagement session on the books. On the unluckier side of things, rain was forecasted for the entire day of their shoot. However, we kept in constant contact and managed to squeeze in their hour-long engagement session between pouring rain. In fact, when I showed up to their session, I met them indoors because the rain came right as we were about to begin our shoot. The silver lining was that we were able to spend 30 minutes getting to know each other and talking about the wedding. When I saw sunshine, we went for it! We spent the next hour hopping around the beautiful gardens and grounds of Colonial Williamsburg. As we wrapped up the hour, we heard thunder and said “OK, I think that’s our cue that we’re finished up!” Within seconds, the skies opened up and we were all drenched and laughing. I couldn’t be happier with these beautiful photos, and I can’t wait to capture their big day this fall.
